POEM 283: CUP OF TEARS

The best conversation
he ever had was done in silence
over a glass of tears.

He lifted up his glass of tears
and made a toast to lost years

‘this cup couldn’t pass from me’
he muttered amidst sobs
‘to tomorrow that never comes’
and then he sipped

A mock smile appeared on his teary face
as memories were gulped down his dry throat

they asundered
why?
