30, a collection of poems by Jaachi Anyatonwu banner

Don’t tell me to fight back the tears
if you can’t erase the pain

Don’t eulogize my strength
& tell me not to flaunt weakness

Don’t mask my flawsomeness
& make a mannequin of me

Don’t tell me you love my smile
if you can’t see my hurting heart

Don’t roll manifestoes off your lying lips
if you have no intention of turning stone to gold

Don’t paint my hut white
& tell me it’s a palace

Don’t rain snow in my hell
& say I’m in heaven
