I hope this musing finds you truly well and genuinely happy. Today, I want to share with you a quote that has inspired me a lot in my life. It is from Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Indian independence movement and a champion of nonviolence. He said:
“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” – Mahatma Gandhi
This quote resonates with me because it captures the essence of happiness. Happiness is not something that we can find outside of ourselves, but something that we can create within ourselves. Happiness is not dependent on external circumstances but on our internal alignment. Happiness is not a fleeting emotion but a lasting state of being.
But how can we achieve this harmony between what we think, what we say, and what we do? Here are some tips that I have learned from my own experience and from the wisdom of Gandhi:
– Be honest with yourself and others
Honesty is the foundation of harmony. When we are honest, we are true to ourselves and our values. We do not deceive ourselves or others with false words or actions. We do not compromise our integrity or dignity. We express ourselves authentically and respectfully. Honesty builds trust and confidence in ourselves and in our relationships.
– Be mindful of your thoughts and emotions
Mindfulness is the key to harmony. When we are mindful, we are aware of our thoughts and emotions. We do not let them control us or overwhelm us. We do not let them cloud our judgement or influence our decisions. We do not let them cause us harm or suffering. We observe them with curiosity and compassion. We acknowledge them and let them go. Mindfulness cultivates peace and clarity in ourselves and in our interactions.

– Be proactive and positive in your actions
Proactivity is the power of harmony. When we are proactive, we take charge of our actions. We do not wait for things to happen or for others to do things for us. We do not react to situations or to people with anger or fear. We do not avoid challenges or responsibilities. We initiate change and make things happen. We act with courage and optimism. Proactivity creates happiness and success in ourselves and in our endeavors.
These are some of the ways that I try to achieve happiness in harmony. I hope they will inspire you and help you in your own journey. Remember, happiness is not a destination, but a way of traveling. Happiness is not a gift, but a choice. Happiness is not a coincidence, but a consequence. Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.
