November Joy Day 16: What You Give You Get

Glee greetings, dear reader!

I hope this musing finds you in good health and spirits. Today, I want to share with you a quote that has inspired me a lot in my life and work. It is from Mother Teresa, the Nobel Peace Prize-winning Roman Catholic nun who dedicated her life to helping the poor and sick in India. She founded the Order of the Missionaries of Charity, a Roman Catholic congregation of women dedicated to the poor, and was canonised as a saint in 2016.

The quote is:

Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come without leaving happier.

– Mother Teresa

This quote reminds me of the importance of kindness, compassion, and generosity in our daily interactions with others. It also challenges me to think of ways to make a positive difference in the world, no matter how small or big.

Mother Teresa was known for her white and blue sari, which became a symbol of her humility and service. She once said, “By blood, I am Albanian. By citizenship, an Indian. By faith, I am a Catholic nun. As to my calling, I belong to the world. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the heart of Jesus.” Her selflessness was unrivalled.

She was born in Skopje, then part of the Ottoman Empire, in 1910. At the age of 18, she moved to Ireland and later to India, where she lived most of her life. She started her missionary work in 1948 after receiving a “call within a call” to serve the poorest of the poor.

She opened her first home for the dying in 1952 and later established schools, orphanages, hospitals, and leprosy centres. She also travelled around the world to spread her message of love and peace. She died in 1997, at the age of 87.

Mother Teresa’s life and work have inspired millions of people across the globe, including me. I admire her courage, selflessness, faith, and dedication to her mission of giving hope, joy, and love to those in dire need of it. I also appreciate her wisdom and simplicity, which are reflected in her quotes. Here are some of my favourites:

“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them.”

“Peace begins with a smile.”

“The most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved.”

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”

I hope her life and her quotes inspire you as much as they inspire me. I also hope that you will join me in spreading love and light everywhere you go and letting no one ever come without leaving happier.
