30, a collection of poems by Jaachi Anyatonwu banner

do you know how airborne castles are erected?

they are raised from a flaccid state
to turgid heights of lust estate

they are fed by milk and honey
from the wetlands of drilled glands

two voices raised in wanton solemnity
four hands racing on unclad tracks

the storm,
the silence that succeeds,
she first
no him first
because none wants to appear cheap and clingy
in the broken mirrors of the other

and it’s sad enough because it’s happening,

and there are several others to let go

One. Two. Four. Eight.
No bodies.

and there are other ways to coincide with one another and accuse one another.

of this
of that
of inconsequential nonsense

and there are other ways to handle this
without an evolution of hearts to shards

but we don’t walk that path
we don’t want such pact

we just take the easy disposition,

for what?

for greed
for lust
for vengeance
for now
for no excusable reason

this is not a poem
it’s an ode for you

the castle shattered
