POEM 226: WE’VE GOT TONIGHT
stars in the sky
bats gliding swiftly
and in your eyes
begins eternity
we’ve got tonight, girl
speak not of tomorrow

crop top and bum short,
hairy chest and biceps,
two racing hearts dancing to lustre
we’ve got tonight, girl
who needs tomorrow?

blues melody crawl out of the speakers
tingling our ears,
wiggling waist and dangling willy
we’ve got tonight, girl
who needs tomorrow?

candlelight and rose petals
salsa with closed eyes
glasses of wine, hands intertwined
we’ve got tonight, girl
who needs tomorrow?

shimmering ebony
luscious lips
dear God! I’ve got tonight
keep your tomorrow!

trembling hands tracing thighs
a harmony of sweet nothings mumbling
we’ve got tonight, girl
who needs tomorrow?

they don’t understand you’re better than next time
we’ve got tonight, girl
tomorrow is stale
