i awoke to stillness
around me sat solemn souls
regurgitating the past
without words, they beckoned
“come. sit. sigh with us,
for tomorrow will never come”
there’s no denying that hope failed them
but i’ve got a reason to crawl beyond here
eyes fixated on what lies ahead
come what may, i will not sit & sulk
i will beat to my own drum
and dance as i crawl
little does it matter, how long
what hear i, a victory song?
